Baker, Ethel “Irene” 82 Longtime MBU librarian Mrs. Ethel “Irene” Baker, 82, of Bridgeton, Mo., passed away May 14, 2007, in Denton, Texas. Mrs. Baker worked at the MBU Jung-Kellogg Library for 25 years and was known by many for her innate desire to help others. Mrs. Baker lived in Bridgeton for the past 31 years. She was a member of Fee Fee Baptist Church in Bridgeton. Survivors include her brother, Isaac Hale of Angleton, Texas; her children, Robert Baker of Florence, Miss., Deborah Perkins of Flower Mound, Texas, Bonny Baker of Defiance, Mo., and William Baker of Saint Louis, Mo.; her grandchildren, Charles Perkins of Saint Charles, Mo., Angela Baker Larabee of Madison, Miss., Christopher Perkins of O’Fallon, Mo., Kim Baker of Nashville, Tenn., Jennifer Baker of Columbia, Miss., Charlton Perkins of Saint Charles, Chelcie Perkins Wilbanks of Ridgeland, Miss., Andrea Baker of Saint Louis, and Michelle Baker of Saint Louis; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alycin, Jeffery Larabee, all of Madison, and Gage, Keegan, Evan, Chloe and Alyssa Perkins, all of St. Louis. Funeral services were held May 19, 2007 in Jackson, Miss. Dye, Julia (Julie) Ann 59 Former MBU receptionist, Ms. Julia “Julie” Dye, 59, of Kirkwood, Mo., died May 22, 2007. Ms. Dye served MBU during the 2006-2007 school year, blessing students faculty and staff with her compassionate attitude and warming smile. Ms. Dye was preceded in death by her father, Jim Parsons. Survivors include her mother, Clara Jane; her children, Tina Nelson (Mike) and Tim Dye (Mary); four grandchildren, Cody, Garrett, Harrison, and Colton Dye; her sister, Betty Jane Casey, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sharon Parsons Jr. Funeral services were held on Thursday and Friday, May 24-25, 2007, at Kirkwood Baptist Church. Memorial donations can be made to Kirkwood Baptist Church or MBU. Haworth, Wanda 75 MBU Trustee Wanda Haworth, 75, of Rogers, Ark., passed away June 25, 2007. Mrs. Haworth served on MBU’s Board of Trustees from Jan. 21, 2002, until the time of her death. Mrs. Haworth also served on the board of the Baptist General Convention of Missouri for three years, was a board member of the Southern Baptist Convention for eight years, was a board member of Home Mission, and served on the board of Southwest Baptist University. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Haworth; her son, James Haworth (Kathy); her daughter, Vicki Seal (Patrick); one sister, Marjorie McDaniel (Steward); five grandchildren, Justin Haworth, Krysta Haworth, Jamie Haworth, Matthew Seal and Shannon Seal. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph McKee, Paul McKee, James Lee McKee and Ronald McKee and three sisters, Joyce Myers, Maude O’Taskey and Ruth Anderson. Funeral services were held June 30, 2007 in Centertown, Mo. Winning Jr., William T. (Bill) 80 Longtime MBU supporter and benefactor, Mr. William T. Winning Jr., 80, of Town and Country, Mo., passed away on Aug. 18, 2007. Mr. Winning was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church since 1955, where he served as a deacon, elder, elder emeritus, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. Known for his dedication to his faith, Mr. Winning took great pleasure in seeing people, especially his family and friends, be drawn to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The William T. Winning, Jr., and Lillian A. Winning Endowment was established in 1997. The endowment provides assistance to students who otherwise could not afford a college education. Funeral services for Mr. Winning were held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Town and Country. Burial and graveside services followed Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Saint Charles Memorial Gardens, Saint Charles, Mo. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 57 years, Lillian; his children, William T. (Carol) Winning III, J. Patrick Winning (Lisa Baue), Dana L. Startegier and R. Kyle (Laura) Winning; his grandchildren, Erika, Brian (Tina), Derek, Geoffrey and Kory Winning, Tara, John, and Kelly Strategier; great-grandson, Ashton Winning; along with numerous other special friends and family. Former MBU receptionist, Ms. Julia “Julie” Dye, 59, of Kirkwood, Mo., died May 22, 2007. Ms. Dye served MBU during the 2006-2007 school year, blessing students faculty and staff with her compassionate attitude and warming smile.
MBU Trustee Wanda Haworth, 75, of Rogers, Ark., passed away June 25, 2007. Mrs. Haworth served on MBU’s Board of Trustees from Jan. 21, 2002, until the time of her death.
