Including a community service project in a university’s lineup of freshman orientation activities has for years been commonplace in both faith-based and secular institutions alike.
MBU has, in fact, for decades offered new students ways to serve others during its annual Welcome Weekend. Over the years, MBU students have helped build houses for deserving families through Habitat for Humanity. They’ve served lunch to homeless mothers at a not-for-profit organization in North St. Louis City. They’ve painted walls and cleaned floors at a new community outreach center in Jefferson County, Mo.
The impact MBU students have collectively made through Welcome Weekend projects has been indisputably far-reaching.
But what if we could do more? Lots more.
